Newborn Baby Photographer in Hampshire & Surrey
What is newborn photography?
Newborn photography is a specialised style of portrait photography designed for babies in their first few weeks of life, typically between 5-14 days old. During this time, babies are naturally sleepy and curled, which allows for those gentle, peaceful poses you often see.
But it is not just about poses.
It is about creating a safe, relaxed environment where your baby is always the priority. Every session is led by your baby’s comfort, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing and cuddles.
There is no minimum spend after the photoshoot fee, giving you the complete control over your investment.
The photoshoot fee secures your session, the final image choices are made at the viewing appointment, depending on how many you fall in love with.

A calm, baby-led experience
Your newborn session takes place in my warm, cosy studio in Aldershot, designed to feel quiet, safe and welcoming. There is no rush. No pressure. No expectation for your baby to ‘perform’. Instead, I gently guide the session around your baby’s needs, creating images that feel effortless rather than forced. Parents often tell me how surprisingly relaxing the experience feels, which matters just as much as the final images.
Safety comes first
Newborn photography requires experience, patience and a deep understanding of baby safety. Your baby will never be placed into a pose that is not comfortable. Every position is carefully supported, and I am always watching for your baby’s cues. This is one of the biggest differences between experienced newborn photographer and cheap newborn photographer. Safety is NOT optional. It is EVERYTHING!

Newborn Photography Questions & Answers
Why should I have my newborn photographed?
Babies, especially newborns, change unbelievably quickly. Once they are born, there is only a few weeks to capture the ‘new’ born. It is so easy to miss documenting this time as it is so fleeting. One minute they are tiny little bundles and the next, they are uncurling, becoming more alert and then they begin to conquer their growing milestones such as smiling and lifting their head up in no time at all.
Let me capture this precious time in your family’s life. This moment in time is then immortalised for you, your family and your baby to look back on for all of time.
I create bespoke, stylish portraits. Each session is designed with my client in mind. When booking, I will send a questionnaire for you to fill in, so I can get to know what you would like, the colours you would prefer, the style, the props, the poses and what accessories you would like (or not like).
I believe every family should have the opportunity to have fine art photos of their new baby and family. And I will guarantee that these pictures will quickly become one of your most valuable possessions that you will ever own.
When time is best for newborn photography?
Newborn photography is best when your baby is between 5-14 days old. This is when they are sleepy and are able to get in those curly poses.
When is best to book a newborn photoshoot?
Bookings can be done from 20 weeks into your pregnancy and will ensure your session once your baby arrives.
What if my baby arrives early or late?
Babies very rarely arrive on their due date. When you book a newborn session, I will ask for your due date so I know when your baby is due to arrive. But because they probably will not come on your due date, I book a window around your due date so that I only take a limited number of newborn bookings during that time. That way, I will always be available for when your baby does arrive, early or late.
What if my baby has already arrived?
Don't worry! I only take on a certain amount of clients per month, so please get in touch as I can usually fit in clients with short notice. Also, please get in touch if your baby has missed the early newborn stage. I have photographed older newborns being able to achieve similar photographs of early newborns, it just might mean that you will have more awake photographs of your baby.
My baby has just arrived. What shall I do?
Firstly, congratulations! It can be such a beautiful time, and a very busy time. If you have not already booked a newborn session, then please contact me as soon as you are able to so we can arrange a date when your baby is between 5-14 days old.
Where will the newborn session take place?
I offer a newborn portrait session from my studio located in the ‘Makers’ Yard’, Union Yard, Aldershot GU11 1FU. You can even sit back and relax while I look after your baby through the session. I do offer a in-home newborn session for a small additional fee. Please contact me to learn more.
What should I expect from a newborn session?
A newborn session usually takes up to 3 hours because I allow time for not only posing and scene set up, but also time for baby to feed, settle and to relax and take a break. I am led by the baby throughout the session and I am constantly checking and looking for cues from the baby. I only book one session a day so I can dedicate myself to that client for that day. Therefore if does not matter if a session over runs. For more information on what to expect from a newborn photoshoot HERE
Why it is important to arrive on time?
It is so important to arrive on time for your newborn session. While I allow 15 minutes for lateness at the most, anything after that will impact the time for your planned photoshoot. It is essential to start on time as your newborn might take time to settle, feed and soothe throughout the session. This could then reduce to amount for pictures you receive from the session.
Why are newborn session scheduled in the morning?
Newborn babies are at their most settled during the mornings. The later the photoshoot is scheduled, the more of a risk the newborn will become unsettled during the photoshoot. I will always book a time in the mornings to start the photoshoot.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, I do. It’s a convenient way to spread the cost, and there is no financial checks. Once the balance is paid, your order will be delivered. Please contact me to learn more.
